Senior OpenStack DevOps Engineer

NOVUS Professional Services is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (10+ years of professional work experience) for our premier Denver client.

     Salary: $55 to $72 Hourly
     Work location: Centennial, Colorado
     Hybrid In Office 3 days a week, Remote 2 days a week

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be an expert in DevOps engineering in a LINUX and Openstack environment, with the experience and ability to both execute all job functions as well as train more junior personnel in the finer points of the role.

You must be:

  • Willing to work on-site at the client’s work location (The client is currently working a Hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office, two days remote.)
  • Located in Denver, Colorado area ow willing to relocate before first day of assignment. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law and regulation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Development operations (DevOps) engineers are responsible for the production and ongoing maintenance of a website platform.
  • They also manage cloud infrastructure and system administration and work with teams to identify and repair issues on an as-needed basis, effective communication skills are important in this position.
  • They are generally expected to work well under pressure with tight deadlines for certain tasks, and a proactive demeanor and friendly disposition are also helpful.
  • DevOps engineers may work with junior and senior engineers, project managers, and executives, as well as administrative assistants, executive assistants, and a receptionist.
  • Hours can be flexible, though they typically work during regular weekly business hours, and they are not usually responsible for customer/client interaction or supervising junior employees.
  • You will develop and implement new features using the existing code base on OpenStack, Contribute to the installation, migration, updates and integration of OpenStack services and modules
  • Maintain and optimize active projects
  • Participate in the development process of new projects, Document the architecture and components, and Write, maintain, and execute unit tests.

Technical Skills required:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering & 3 years of experience with Python
  • Must have recent 2+ years of experience with OpenStack
  • Must have experience in installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of OpenStack and CEPH
  • Must be familiar with the concept of software-defined networking, network function virtualization, network acceleration technologies, and the – underlay/overlay networking model
  • Solid knowledge of Virtualization, Containerization, NFV, Cloud networking, and Linux
  • Solid understanding of OpenStack services such as Neutron
  • Understanding and experience with Edge deployments
  • Experienced with virtualization, container technologies and tooling such as Libvirt, Docker, Heat, Ironic, OVS and Ansible
  • Demonstrated experience with low-level open source software optimization including Linux kernel, libraries, filesystems and/or toolchains
  • Be familiar with DevOps business practices particularly with regards to applying the software development lifecycle to system management (Git, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Great team player
