Before Customized, Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions became common place, most business software was developed in-house as a proprietary solution to a given company's specific requirements.  Though less common today, sometimes a business organization calculates that their requirements are so specific - or so confidential - that they justify the costs of a custom-developed solution.  NOVUS Professionals are skilled in all phases and facets of software development for business systems.  Whether building a system from the ground up, or modifying and enhancing an existing business-critical system, you need professionals that you can rely on to achieve your objectives and give you the functionality you need, when and how you need it.  NOVUS Professionals can do just that.

NOVUS Professionals are skilled in a variety of Software Development Life Cycles (SDLCs), including traditional waterfall, RAD, JAD, Spiral, and Rapid Prototyping.  We also have our own refinement of the traditional methodology we call the NOVUS Development Lifecycle (NDLC).  The NDLC consists of the familiar phases of a software development project: Define, Design, Develop, Verify.  Each phase is encapsulated in a set of criteria for entry and exit, scope verification steps, stakeholder review, Earned Value (EV) analysis, and sponsor signoff.  We also include a phase called Enhance for ongoing maintenance and enhancement.  NOVUS will rely on this methodology to ensure the success of all our projects, unless our clients request a specific or proprietary methodology.

BellSouth
BellSouth's 271 Reporting Warehouse contained millions of discrete data elements, and added hundreds of thousands of new elements each month.  They needed an automated way to validate the data each month before critical reports were generated and delivered to state and federal regulatory agencies.  NOVUS designed and developed a system in Oracle that enabled an automated statistical analysis of all data feeds, compared them historical trends, and identified deviations that needed further attention.  The system comprised nearly 100 software components, sat on a table-driven architecture for ease-of-maintenance, and enabled the rapid and accurate validation of the monthly warehouse load.

Net2000
Net2000 was building a telecom company from the ground up, including all the various Operations Support Systems necessary, and found they needed a better way to track the various project management items that are the foundation of every project.  They selected NOVUS' 'Leverage' Project Management Database for tracking Issues, Action Items, Trouble Tickets, Requirements, and Configuration Items.  NOVUS performed extensive customizations to the product before installing it at their headquarters in Herndon, Virginia.  The tool served as a central repository for project management documentation for numerous projects in their portfolio.

Avantel
Taking advantage of the coming competitive opportunities that would be offered in Mexico with the deregulation of the monopoly held by TelMex, MCI Communications partnered with Banamex to create a brand new telephone company, Avantel.  NOVUS Professionals were tasked with the development of an Order Entry Hub to integrate several different systems involved in the order entry, fulfillment, and billing processes.  We built and delivered two phases successfully, implementing a client/server architecture with numerous automated interfaces to various midrange and mainframe systems.
