NOVUS Development Lifecycle
NOVUS has refined the traditional software development lifecycle to
leverage the expertise we've gained on numerous client projects. The
NOVUS Development Lifecycle (NDLC) includes
the familiar
phases of a development project, from requirements gathering, through system
design, development, and testing, followed by ongoing maintenance and
enhancement. Each phase is bracketed by scope verification, detailed
progress reporting, and itemized checkpoint verification and signoff.
Earned Value calculations are executed and monitored throughout, providing
the opportunity to take corrective action as early as possible, before a
deviation from schedule or budget mushrooms out of control. It also
allows for go/no-go decisions at each phase, so the project remains tied
directly to the strategic needs of the business at all times.
NOVUS uses this methodology whenever possible, unless the client requires
that a specific or proprietary methodology be used. NOVUS also has
experience with Spiral, RAD, JAD, and Iterative lifecycles.
The NOVUS Development Lifecycle methodology can also be customized as
necessary to meet specific client requirements.

- BellSouth Communications

- BellSouth Communications needed a new reporting platform to support the
numerous reporting requirements of the Federal and State agencies governing
their efforts to enter the local telecom market. After building a
large custom data warehouse to support the requirements, they needed a
robust validation and certification process to ensure the validity of the
reports. NOVUS Professional Services was brought in to manage the
certification process. Comprising two phases, the certification
process was constrained by time and resources, while the quality of the
validation could not be compromised. NOVUS delivered the certification
on time and within budget, and BellSouth began to meet the reporting
requirements that subsequently allowed them to enter the local phone market
in all nine states of their region.

- Teligent, Inc.

- Teligent is a fixed-wireless telecommunications company that began
operations in 1997 in Vienna, Virginia. Starting from a clean slate,
Teligent needed to build out a wireless network in 74 cities, and all the
operations support systems (OSS) necessary to support it. NOVUS was
selected to provide project management services to the customization and
implementation of the customer care and billing system from Saville.
With the scope clearly defined, we built an aggressive but realistic plan to
accomplish the objectives of definition, customization, testing, and
implementation. In ten months, Teligent was able to deliver invoices
to customers in the first ten markets as scheduled.
