I worked as a BUSINESS
ANALYST performing revenue
assurance and audit functions of the Order Entry, Provisioning, and Billing
areas. I was tasked to audit their systems to help reduce revenue leakage
resulting from system, integration, and data entry problems.
I analyzed usage records that were piling up and reaching the 90-day expiration
mark and made necessary data fixes, recovering nearly $20,000 in revenue from
usage and recurring/non-recurring charges in the first month alone.
I uncovered problems in the Order Entry system that allowed Customer Service
Representatives to complete an order without entering all required information.
I also found integration problems where necessary data that was collected was
not passed all the way through the systems to Billing. I identified the
necessary software changes to prevent these problems in the future.
I worked with another consultant to revise the processes and procedures that
governed the activities of the Order Entry, Customer Service, Provisioning, and
Billing groups, where software changes alone were not sufficient to completely
seal the revenue gaps. This effort further reduced the number of errors made by
personnel throughout the organization.
I documented a high-level audit and control procedure to continually monitor the
revenue stream and identify new revenue leaks as they occurred.
During my six month engagement, I recovered over $300,000 in previously lost
revenue, not including the amount of leakage prevented by the revised software
or procedures.
