I worked as a
SYSTEMS
ENGINEER
and
BUSINESS
ANALYST on an OSS reengineering
project for Citizens Communications. Citizens was in the process of integrating
networks and their supporting systems from several recent acquisitions. They
also wanted to enhance their existing OSS functionality to better support the
rollout of new broadband services.
I interviewed project stakeholders to gather requirements and created a matrix
of requirements for the Order Entry, Customer Care, Rating, and Billing
functions. The matrix served as the basis of comparison for the vendor
evaluation effort.
I conducted a survey of commercial packages available to support the TMN
functions above, preparing a list of 21 vendors, including summaries of their
product offerings and functionality. I delivered the long list with
preliminary scoring before the project was cancelled in February, 1999.
